PART 1

Distribution

1)      What does distribution mean?
Is getting the product out for people to see it using different digital platforms, e.g. YouTube and Netflix.

2)      Who distributes a film? It is always the same people o produce (make) the film?

  • The people who distributes a film is not always the people who produce it but is more likely to be an individual or company in charge of the marketing part.

3)      What is the traditional way of distributing a film?

  •    Television and cinema.

4)      What might be a newer way of distributing a film?

  • Internet.

5)      What are film festivals and what is their role in film distribution?

  •   A film festival is an event at which multiple films are screened for participants. Typically, film festivals are accompanied by panels which may feature directors, cast members, and other film personnel, and awards may be offered at the close of the festival to films of particularly high quality.

6)      What might make a distributor decide to release a film on one particular weekend rather than another?

  • The distributor might choose a particular weekend because more people will be available to watch the film  or maybe because the particular weekend may be close to the date of an film event.
7)      Why is distribution essential to the film chain? What will happen to a film if it can’t secure a distributor deal?

  • Distribution is essential to the film chain because as it says on the definition of it above : "Is getting the product out for people to see it.", so distribution has a big role in the film chain.  Without it the film chain would of been seriously affected, specially the fourth step on the film chain: Exchange; the movie would basically fail.  The audience would not be able to see the movie.
