Film Festivals
Film festivals give independent films a chance to show their production to the audience, it gives them a push and are usually used as launch pads for films. A festival is also a place where acquisition executives can discover new talent as they have a platform to screen their first shorts and features.
The distribution of a film is the stage where the company
can see if the film will do well or not, if the distribution is not as
successful than the film overall may not be as good.
A distributor may decide to release the film on particular
weekend than another, because it could be half term and therefore people are
able to go watch, a Halloween weekend if fitting for the content. They choose a
certain weekend depending on the box office.
